2010 CN Gamebirds Hunt

Hello From the Peach State!
I’ve wanted to write this new blog for some time but with my new job, I have been so busy. There are only 85 days until opening day and I’m really excited about the season. I think I’ll go ahead and get my license…to beat the crowd!

I wanted to focus this blog on Central Nebraska Game Birds (http://www.cngamebirds.com/index.html). Tony and Caryn really showed us an excellent time last year. We hunted 2 days and took about 45 birds. The day 2 hunters seem to think they took more birds with fewer guys but as Tony explained it, “those guys would have had a lot more birds if they could shoot”. I’m just sayin…

OK, back to CN Gamebirds. They have 180 acres of rolling hills, mixed crops and a nice creek bottom 15 miles NW of Kearney, Nebraska. If you have older hunters who aren’t as fit as they once were, you can ride a golf cart to and from the specific field you will be hunting. Tony has several excellent bird dogs (Moose, Maddy and Tucker). They are all the dogs you need but Tony allows you to bring your own dogs. Since several of us are from Georgia, we don’t really have the opportunity to hunt pheasant more than once a year. Having our dogs work next to Tony’s is great training for them. A great example of this is in the video below where Scooby was on point and Maddy backed him up! This was the TRIP MAKER for me to see Scooby get it!

If you have to break for lunch, this is the place! Tony and Caryn put out a great lunch spread! Normally, after a meal like this it would be nap-time…but, back to the field we go! Tony and Caryn also clean the birds but, as the USOPHT, we like to help! Makes it feel like the old days! We also got a tour of the facility and it is quite an operation, especially the fly-pens. As you can tell, we would highly recommend CN Gamebirds!

We’ll be at CN Gamebirds this year on October 31st through November 2nd!

Here are some video's of the hunt!
